Lionel Messi arrived in Japan on Wednesday to participate in the anticipated Friday’s friendly match between Japan and Argentina in Saitama, near Tokyo.
The Japanese are so eager to see Messi playing, 60,000 tickets were sold in one day just to watch him doing the things he does on the pitch.
JFA president Junji Ogura told reporters in early September:
If Messi doesn’t play, we pay 200,000 dollars less to the AFA
That means the Argentine Football Association (AFA) is to earn a 200,000-dollar bonus for fielding Messi in Japan.
